Alpha House’s Domestic Violence Vigil
Channel 10/CBS story was at the 3rd Annual ALPHA HOUSE OF TAMPA Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil and Speak-Out October 24th on the green at Alpha House. In December of 2004, featured guest speaker Patty Parra-Perez Andrews was shot in the head by her ex-husband, who then shot and killed both of their children, chasing their 13-year-old daughter down the street to do so, and then killed himself. Only Patty survived. She now speaks out against domestic violence in an effort to save the lives of others at risk of or experiencing domestic violence. We are grateful to Patty for sharing her powerful message with our residents and all those affected by domestic violence in our community.
Thanks also to Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman for joining in the vigil. We are grateful for her leadership and commitment on this issue and others affecting the homeless, pregnant and parenting mothers and babies we serve.
